For two different groups of practitioners employed in project management, PMI (Project Management Institute) offers two different certifications. One is CAPM (certified project manager) with little to no experience for new entrants in the field and the other is PMP Certification (project management professional), with a long-term experience for seasoned project managers.
CAPM has just begun and plans to differentiate itself from the crowd and develop its career early on, while PMP is for professionals who spent some time in the field and are now looking to operate on a larger scale.
CAPM Eligibility
You must comply with the following conditions in order to be eligible for CAPM Toronto certification:
- A high school diploma or an equivalent high school degree must be earned by the applicant.
- The applicant should be given 1500 hours as a project manager, or the 23-hour PMBoK study program must be completed.
PMP Eligibility
The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBoK) ensures that you have a thorough understanding of the fundamentals and basics of project management. PMP testing is carried out. But you must investigate whether you are eligible for certification before you can be accredited with PMP.
- A bachelor or high school diploma should be applicable to the applicant.
- Applicants with a bachelor's degree must have 3 years of experience as a project leader of 4500 hours of work experience.
- Applicants with a high school diploma must have a 5-year background in project management with 7500 hours as a project manager.
- The 35-hour PMBoK Study Program must also be completed by the applicants.
CAPM recently started to separate itself from the crowd and early grow its career, while PMP works with specialists who have invested a while and are looking to operate more extensively.
