- Include senior management in your status report distribution.
As learned in project management certification online - the quickest method to guarantee that your senior management is aware of you and your project is to make a mistake and have your project client's sponsor or CEO contact your CEO, who then summons you to his office and learns all there is to know about you and your project. However, starting to provide project progress reports to them for your projects – or at least your major projects – is a lot better method. Make the status reports good, one-size-fits-all reports so that you can have a great high-level overview of project health (including financial health) because it may be all they look at. They will, however, become acquainted with you and your proposal (s). Consider going to the polls with only a passing knowledge with the majority of the candidates. Who do you vote for in the end? Those whose names you're familiar with, most likely. If you're the project manager they recognize and you need assistance, you'll be one step ahead of your co-workers in acquiring the aid you require since they "know of you."
- Send out company-wide updates of your project praising team efforts.
Some organizations may frown on this if it results in anything less than a successful project deployment. However, you may frequently communicate positive project success information along the way, such as when you complete a critical part of your project only 5 months into a year-long engagement. Now you only have seven months remaining on a project that everyone in the organization is aware of...including certain people who would be useful to have on hand and connected to your project if the necessity arises.
- Present your project at a division or company meeting.

However, being able to get up in front of corporate leadership and speak about your idea at a meeting will leave a lasting impression. Go for it if you have the opportunity and the stomach for it. It's definitely the quickest way to be noticed...unless everything goes wrong and one CEO phones another CEO.

The purpose of getting your project acknowledged is to make your route to project success as seamless as possible. The more people who are aware of your project, the easier it will be for you to get help quickly if you need it, obtain information from key players for critical decisions, and obtain the appropriate resources or funding without having to go through the unnecessary red tape that would otherwise stall your project.
