What I'd want to look at here are the attributes that distinguish top-performing project managers who have undergone project management certification online. Please examine what you feel the greatest of the finest PMs constantly bring to the table as you read. What distinguishes them from less effective PMs?

Here are my top four picks.

1.     An organized thinker and doer.

The finest project managers are doers who are well-organized. Period. Why wait till tomorrow to do what you can do today? Top project managers strive to make forward with each step — not go backwards. They have a strategy in mind, and they want to stick to it. They want to bring others along for the trip, such as the team, so that they may be organised thinkers and doers while interacting with others and leading others. All of this is just solid project management practice for you and the project client you're working with. Yes, that is rational, yet many people become so overwhelmed with work that they are ready to postpone at some point during the day. It's better to stay away from it because the job continues piling up... That is something that the top project managers do not want to happen.

2.     A skilful negotiator.

PMs typically have to negotiate project timelines, resources, revisions, money, and other issues with anybody from the client to their own team members to members of their own executive management teams inside the business in the project management sector. Sometimes we don't even realise we're bargaining. We must be excellent negotiators who are constantly searching for ways to improve our position in order to effectively complete the project. Negotiation is a necessary component of the game. You'll be more successful as a solution provider if you can master that game.

3.     An analytical thinker

A project manager having undergone project management certification online must be an analytical thinker in order to analyse deliver dates, resource utilisation and demands, and the project's financial health at any given time. This analytical mode of thinking, like negotiation skills, should only be used when necessary. If you're a novice project manager, you'll have to learn by doing - follow best practices and be always interested in analyzing where the project is and where it needs to go, as well as determining the most efficient route to get there. You will become a competent analytical thinking PM as a result of that continuous thinking process. Or you'll discover you can't do it and settle for middle management, where you won't be challenged nearly as much... Sorry, I got a little off track there.

4.     Above reproach.

Finally, maintain an unblemished reputation. Don't be Hillary Clinton, staring down the barrel of a lost presidential campaign because you mishandled email and couldn't get past the falsehoods and deception. An excellent piece of advice is to stay away from crimes. Remove any skeletons from the closet. And do what you say you're going to do...reputation is built on follow-through. Be truthful and trustworthy. Leaders are defined by their actions rather than their words.
